This Allentown, PA Free Book Festival was the brainchild of Cheri and Chloe Fadlon. Chloe Fadlon will become a bat mitzvah at Temple Beth El in Allentown on June 1, 2024. A Springhouse Middle School (SMS) seventh grader, Chloe plays violin, golf, ice skates and studies voice. She is involved in SMS’s TV studio (S.U.N.N), the Reading Olympics and is volunteering for Read Across America. Chloe will also be in SMS’s upcoming performance of Descendants. When it came to planning her mitzvah project Chloe knew she’d like to do something to do with reading and books. A college classmate of Chloe’s mom, Our Kids Read Executive Director, Our Kids Read, started a literacy organization called Our Kids Read (OKR). At the 2023 Princeton University reunion, Chloe learned about an organization a college classmate of her mother's started, Our Kids Read. At the event, students from Trenton, NJ visited Princeton's campus for a day of literacy events and free books. This inspired Chloe to want to bring a similar event to Allentown.

Chloe will be sponsoring an Our Kids Read Free Book Festival at Mosser Elementary School in Allentown in March. The festival will bring storytellers, West African drummers and free diverse books to 2nd grade students.
