OKR Free Book Festival

Support Literacy in Los Angeles, CA!

Our Kids Read, in partnership with the Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC) is bringing a Free Book Festival to the WLCAC Community Center in Watts, CA!

In March 2024, we will bring storytellers, West African drummers and free passes to join the OKR evening virtual Reading Buddies program to the WLCAC Community Center.

Our Kids Read kicked of a Reading Ambassador program in 2023, where OKR volunteers can propose literacy events in their community and Our Kids Read will bring books and storytellers to support the event.

In November 2023, Our Kids Read Nike Read-a-Thon volunteer Hugo Hughley recommended that Our Kids Read support a Free Book Festival at the Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC).

Our Kids Read is excited to partner with WLCAC and bring free books, story telling and other literacy-focused activities to the Mach 2024 event.

OKR is a 100% volunteer organization but we do pay contract musicians, storytellers and part-time staff. Please donate to support the cost of bring the best event possible to the students we serve.
